We love hearing from you about how God has used newday to bring you into a deeper relationship with him. When I came across Megan’s story recently, I asked if she’d be willing to share her story with you – and here it is:
I first came to newday last summer. I was a bit apprehensive about what it would be like because I was staying with some people who I had never met before. I didn’t really know what to expect but after arriving the people there were all really nice and I soon made friends!
I really enjoyed the times of worship and I learned a lot from the meetings and seminars.
I have been to church every week with my grandparents since a very young age, and I submitted my life to God a couple of years ago on another Christian camp. My parents aren’t Christians and only attend church on special occasions, but I guess that’s better than nothing! I would love for them to find God and realize his love for us.
Since becoming a Christian I found things very hard and at times maybe I doubted God but he never left me. I used to feel like I had to be strong for God to accept me but the truth is he accepts us for who we are, no matter what difficulties we face.
newday really helped me grow in faith and build my relationship with God. It was really nice to have people to talk and pray with who didn’t judge you for who you are and what you may have done.
One thing at newday which really made me think was the evening of healing. I saw soo many people be healed from deafness, food allergies and other illnesses. There is no way that if anybody saw that that they could doubt God for even a second. That really opened my eyes to the power of God and what he can do.
Since newday last summer I have made more time for God in my life and also spend time praying with friends. I attend the Christian Union at my school which I had never done before and have met some great people and heard some amazing testimonies from others.
I have grown so much in faith and I have decided to be baptised on Easter Sunday this year! I am really excited but nervous at the same time. It is a big step for anyone to take but if you truly believe that Jesus is the Son of God and he died to pay the penalty for your sin then being baptised is a logical step in the Christian walk. It is also an opportunity to share your story with others and declare your love for God!
If you are thinking of going to newday this summer then I definitely recommend it! You shouldn’t be nervous about going because it is a great opportunity to make new friends and build your relationship with God.
